Wow…he looks adorable and yet creepy in a disproportionate kind of way. ^_^

    • adam says:

      Agreed.

I think that over on Cute Overload, they’d call this li’l guy “ballular,” or maybe “spherrific.”

      • Groovy says:

when i was little i crapped my pants every time i saw an owl, but i would just have giggled at this is sooooo cute. i wouldn’t have even known it was an owl.

  2. Catherine says:

I am confused, but I want one.
I always wanted a pet owl.

  3. Hurf Durf says:

    Aww, owl-loaf. 8D

  4. JHGRedekop says:

    Invisible eggshell.

  5. Miriam says:

What species is it? Anybody know?

  6. mrmeval says:

It’s a creepy tribble with eyes.

  7. Bird Girl says:

Just FYI…it’s illegal to own any native wild migratory bird in the USA. This includes adorable puffball owls like this one! People used to have them as pets, and it still happens in very rural areas of course. The International Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 governs all native species.

    • Sync' says:

…And what happens, if they live in places where it is legal? :P
I do. The only reason I don’t want one is because I’m not prepared to take care for it at home. But if I could and I found one injured or otherwise unable to go back into the wild… I’d take care of it. They are beautiful, cute and intelligent… Still wild animasl, though.

  8. Mtyugi says:

….are you guys sure that isn’t an owl’s severed head??….it just doesn’t look physically possible to have a body under there….. o_O *shrugs*

  9. HANNAH says:

aww so cute i want him :*

  10. HANNAH says:

    i love owls!!!!!!

  11. Is that thing real? :-/

  12. L says:

I hope someone will quietly delete this post. This owl is being held captive by a very short chain (see lower right corner). It’s OK to see a domesticated animal on a leash (dog, ferret, cat, guinea pig), but it’s heartbreaking to see a wild animal on a chain like this.

  13. Carioca says:

It’s hard to tell if it is just chained or if part of the metal on the top of the post is a part of a trap?

  14. Buggy says:

Were’s its feet? Anyway, it’s so so so so soooooooooooo CUTE!!!! It’s so fluffy and cuddlable I want to squeeze it. I wish i could have one

  15. Moose says:

…pretty sure thats dead…. its like a mounted head

  16. Charismatic Enigma says:

“head owl is just a head”

  17. Jordan says:

It’s not dead… Have you never looked at a bird? They can ball themselves up, even bend their bodies forward on their legs. Owls also have a huge range of motion with their necks, and thus that position wouldn’t be impossible. You can see his feet. Or rather, one of them. It looks like he saw a mouse or something.
