they are tortoises. turtles have little webbed “fin” feet. tortoises have miniture elephant feet.

These are baby African Spur-Thighed Tortoises in case anyone wanted to know. ^^
Also, all tortoises are turtles (at least as we use the terms in the US). “Turtle” = tortoises and water turtles.

Just because we not me, other folks) use the terms interchangeably here in the U.S. it doesn’t mean it’s correct. Turtles live in or near water, a tortoise only needs water for nurishment.
They’re called honu.
