Haha, this video is cute for the first 43 seconds when it’s just Goofus chasing his tail, but I laughed out loud at 0:43, when the camera pans over to Gallant, who is being a “good boy” to the camera, in contrast to his brother. So cute.

Love the 2nd dog. He should be wearing an “I’m with stupid” shirt.
Yeah, his expression is, “Dude, I am *so* not related to you!”
“Goofus” actually looks like he’s got impacted anal glands that are bugging him. He needs a vet visit.
I think that is a real good call. That was my guess!
Real bad call.
Leave it to the professionals instead of playing couch vet. The owner left a post indicating her dog sees the vet regularly, as do ours.
Except he’s not chasing his tail, he’s already caught his tail! He’s towing himself!
I agree that this dog is in misery and needs to see a vet. This can also indicate psychological problems. I really hate to see this type of thing and have it thought of as amusement.
See the owner’s comments below. Friggin’ judgmental couch vets. My 4 year old dog lays on her back and chases her tail, then looks to see if we are watching when she wants attention and she is also in perfect health.
A dog that old chasing it’s tail is indicative of health issues. As Larissa said, could be anal glands, or it could be a neurological disorder. Basically, a dog older that a few months should know that its tail is part of itself.
BS. See the owner’s comments below. My 4 year old dog lays on her back and chases her tail, then looks to see if we are watching when she wants attention and she is also in perfect health.
She knows it’s her own tail but that doesn’t make it any less fun. One of our cats, also in perfect health, never outgrew chasing hers either.
Also, it’s its unless you are making a contraction.
Is Gallant a “Fluffy?” I think they’re so cute. I’d like to have one.
Goggie needs a wubba!
I remember when my dachshund was a puppy. His tail flicked, caught his attention and he started after it. He actually caught it and was SO SHOCKED. I wish I had a camera going when it happened.
Hope he dont do it to often cause then it might be a problem with the dog and a behaviour he needs to unlearn.
But it looks idd cute
Aww, it’s an Oroboros Puppy. O.o
For those of you concerned about Skippy’s health, I would like to assure you that he is a hearty dog who receives regular veterinary care. He is NOT attempting to relieve impacted anal glans and he IS fully aware that his tail is part of him.
He is, however, a very intelligent, very high-energy dog. He gets bored very easily and sometimes uses tail-chasing as an attention getting mechanism. So, yes it could be considered a behavioral issue. We make sure to play with him everyday and see that he has a mountain of toys to amuse himself with and are working with a trainer to prevent this sort of thing… But danged if it aint cute to watch! I still can’t help but be amused.
Also… “Gallant” is a girl dog, but no huge deal. She can’t read.
It’s like he thinks he’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi instead of a Cardigan and he can’t figure out why he has this impostor fluffy tail! (or vice-versa).
Tail chasing is only an indicator of a psychological issue when it becomes self-destructive. My sheltie, Rusty, chased his tail whenever we started acting goofy and rowdy. He’s just having a good time.
Skippy (Goofus) was one when we got him and had been in four other homes! Yes, this tail biting thing was psychological. He did it when he got overexcited. We figured it was a self-calming mechanism. He is now two and very rarely does it, as he is adjusting nicely to a good loving home, with training, fair discipline, consistency and regular visits to his friend the vet! NO impacted anal glands.
Yes, “Gallant”, whose real name is Faye is a fluffy, and she really would like an “I’m with stupid” t-shirt.
That beautiful pink rag rug looks like the “real” thing – homemade?
Homemade by my late great gamma no less!
