Yes, this is definitely an axolotl, I think. Not a fish. There’s some chemical in the lake they live in that keeps them from losing their gills like normal salamanders. I don’t recall what it is called.

i thought they had to be exposed to a certain chemical to grow like other salamanders, cuz ppl still keep them as pets. it was only discovered that they could grow like normal salamanders while being transported at some point i think…. but didn’t people have them as pets before them?

I heard somewhere that these mudkip-things live in water-filled caves, making them albino and almost blind… dunno if the chemical thing is true though.
