…my very favorite marsupial!!!
I will hug you wombat! And boop your gigantic nose.
Wow… that booper is so huge, it’s like a boopbag! You know, like a punchbag, but for booping instead… boop-a-da-boop-a-da-boop-a-da…
This little bugger is soo cute! Do wombats make good pets? I want one.
They are biiig…
And very strong – basically a big ball of unstoppable muscle. And they’re good diggers – concrete slows them down, though. And they bite.
I’m not sure that any marsupials make good pets. They’re not really people-animals. They’re gorgeous to see in the wild though.
If you have young kids, check out jackie french’s “diary of a wombat”. It’s gorgeous. The back story is worth a read, too – warning, doesn’t start out peachy-happy, but ends well:

I don’t think wombats make good pets, but some other marsupials do, although it’s not legal to keep native marsupials as pets here. When I was a kid I knew two families who had roos as pets, and they were friendly and affectionate animals. I have met quite a few orphan joeys in care (with wildlife carers) and they are really responsive to humans – enjoying human contact and attention and loving pats and cuddles. There’s been research on quolls as well, with some of the scientists involved coming out really strongly in favour of keeping them as pets.
I would be a bit scared of a wombat. A solid lump of grumpy muscle with really big sharp claws. You wouldn’t want to upset one!
“a solid lump of grumpy muscle with big sharp claws”: this is so accurate i think you might secretly be a vet.
also, they are terrible flirts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLLSUPhJ3Pw
oh man! i would love to have either a quoll or a numbat as a pet. but not both, because the numbat would get eaten.
or a koala. sooooooooooooooooo soft!
True, many an Australian farmer has lost their dog to wombat crushing power.
One of those cute but scary critters.
there’s a story about a wombat called sebastian somewhere
Yeah, “Sebastian Lives in a Hat”, It’s based on a true story but it’s written for kids.
its illegal to keep them as pets unless you save them from death if ….its mother was killed by a car and you take the young if there is any but you can take it until you have to give it to the rspca…..but you can have kangaroos as pets usually grey kangaroos are the best as theyre less agressive then red kangaroos
I would hug him and boop him and give him kisses
Fluff is certainly a factor in wombats, but they also have very big heads that just sort of continue on to the body with just the merest suggestion of a neck.
I like his teefs.
Did you hear about this person that left all the $ to the wombats, that will pay for someone to fluff his foof daily!
