
Look at that beautiful fossa! He stands alone because fossas are oddly solitary mammals — they live in small groups, evenly dispersed all over Madagascar. They also have a weird mating ritual where all the males in a group gather and a female will choose two males that she likes and make them fight over her — I know some girls like that! Slowly but surely more Fossas are being bred at zoos to boost their dwindling numbers, but right now only about 50 exist in captivity worldwide. If you have fossas at your local zoo, you’re lucky, you should go visit them!

My town has fossas! I took video, too, but it was a tiny little dumbphone and so the video isn’t good. But it’s our Local Fossa!
