  6. roastpotato says:

Yes gerbil vote please! I had a gerbil when I was little and called him Lord Frederick, I’ve no idea why! He wasn’t friendly or cute like this little guy, but I loved him lots anyway ^_^
Up against what though …. mice seems fair but maybe too similar? Rats?

  7. Captain Ned says:

Bloody cannibals they are and foul-tempered to boot.

    • Sedde says:

Sounds more like hamsters to me!! My two gerbils cuddle every day and are constantly digging around in their bedding, it’s hilarious and adorable.

  8. chrissie says:

Captain Nerd, you lie! They are amazing, friendly, sweet tempered, hyper spaz balls. I had one named Prince Edward (way before Twilight was even thought of) that loved to snuggle. Sadly he died from an gerbil flu. I’d love a gerbil spree. Also, all gerbils should have royal titles ie: Lord Frederick and Price Edward.

  9. genoa says:

I had this one gerbil that everyone called Red,because when he was little he was ticked everywhere except for a patch on the top of his head. he had a bit of an attitude but he was overall sweet, when he was older he would fall asleep standing up, and his grandchildren would run up and knock him over. it was funny to watch.

  10. genoa says:

oh and yes a gerbil spree is in order they can really get you with their cutness.

  11. Rhea says:

We had two named after emperors: Genghis and Kublai. (Only Mongolian names we knew.) And another pair of males named after Marco Polo and his uncle Matthew. Yes, please, more gerbils!

  12. Lady Fluff says:

Noooooo, gerbils are eeeevil. Hamsters are what is needed. Stubbular little tails and stuffy fluffy cheeks. Yes. Hamsters > Gerbils every time

  13. kate says:

OMS totally! I have 2 little gerbils (Candy and Mrs. Bojangles*) and they are so cute! Their antics never cease to entertain. Gerbils are totally sweet and squee!

*= My fiance named that one. I think it is a dumb name. But I love them both.

  14. clute says:

    Isn’t this a Degu?

  15. Jennifer says:

    Gerbils please!

  16. Lisa says:

Awww I made daily squee!! hehe this is my gerbil Mei, Ive got two, the others called Satsuki after the little girls from My neighbour totoro. They are totally squee!!! not a degu, just a bit of a chubby gerbil = D

  17. GIA HUTT says:

we always had gerbils when my two girls were little.
My oldest Vee,had “Chubby” who,to this day is fondly remembered and loved, she had a funeral and notes were collected by her from the family who knew him for the eulogy, when he died of old age.
Animals can enrich our lives and teach us love, laughter, and commitment.
Chubby will always be remembered with love for his antics and for his gluttony (hence the name) cheeks full of seeds at all times!

  18. Elizabeth Poe says:

We had gerbils, Marty & Doc. My daughter came to me one day & asked me to come look at Marty because he was walking funny. I figured he must have fallen off his ladder. “In a minute…” I was busy, “He’s not going to drop dead or anything.” But he did. Bad, bad mother that I am, I did not account for the fact that the boys were well past their expiration date. Doc died a few days later. But they were cute while they lived.

  19. Ramona says:

What funny names for pets. How about a list of odd names for pets. I had a dog named Sir Lucifer D. Jones. He had papers but also had an overbite so we couldn’t show him. Now I have a cat named Yum Yum. That’s not so odd but there was a reason he got the name.

  20. Bruce says:

i love gerbils too. i had a gerbil named Jeffery when i was a kid, and we all called him JefferyGerbil, all 1 word like that.
he was the super gerbil from Krypton too, he fell so many times and still lived. he survived all kinds of mishaps, too. once a fat lady sat on his head! :O
i love all animals really, even the nasty ones, like Hyenas and Vultures hehe
i love Guinea Pigs best of all tho. theyre my favorite animal

  21. Di says:

Our AKA Cairn Terrier was dubbed Princess Nessie McCHEW…and there never was a moniker more well chosen.

  22. Makyla says:

Ok well my gerbil had babies and i picked them up there about a week and a half and it fell out of my hand and its nose is bleeding what should i do , im very worrie that its going to die, he can walk fine but he keeps scratching he”s nose ??

  23. kate says:
