alycat712: “These two chickens survived a vicious fox attack last December, and my grandmother knitted two little jumpers for them to wear, as many of their feathers were pulled out in the attack. Now they are warm this winter on the farm <3″
Awww, and they are STYLIN’ too! I like how the pink sweater matches his… flappy thingie… and the yellow sweater complements the pink! They look totally cute!

THAT IS SO CUTE!!! I love this!
And, so ingenious. THANK your grandmother for saving these precious little things and giving them warmth like that!
aaw. i agree
total WIN
Both of them appear to be hens. And yes, the color matches her comb (the skin on top) and wattles (the skin on the bottom).
Fox are predators for chickens, even around here in Buffalo which wish to raise a few hens. I think it is allowed in some parts of the city and surrounding areas.
Foxes are allowed to predate in some parts of the city and surrounding areas?

i wish i had a sweater that matched my wattles…er…oh…uh….maybe not…
Chickens are really wonderful pets actually. I just love them… and these ladies in their little sweaters is COMPLETELY SQUEEEE!!
Yay chicken gramma! That made me happy:-)
I feel bad for these chickens. I really do.
Adorable! They know they look good.
…Oh, your Grandmother must be Pearl Burrahs.
Where do you get a pattern for a chicken sweater?
Aww, yay! Chicken sweaters! I’ve been trying to make some for my chickens all winter, but all my attempts have failed.
OMG that’s great, that’s like right out of a Warner Bros cartoon, with Daffy Duck or Foghorn Leghorn getting all his feathers shot of or something!
At least they survived. Two of mine didn’t. But good luck anyone trying to get jumpers on to my remaining two!
I have a London garden, and there are no problems with having chickens. I think it’s a leftover from WWII when people kept them to help feed themselves, part of the war effort.
So, I was showing this to my roomie.. and she told me a story about how her aunt used to own chickens. Her aunt is kinda religious, and got angry once when her uncle brought home a barrel of beer. so, she smashed the barrel and let the liquid out onto the ground. Now, Auntie had two chickens. The next morning, she came out to find the chickens dead, apparently by alcohol poisoning.. So, she decided to pluck them and cook them (since they were “dead’ anyway).. She had just finished plucking them when they started coming to.. they weren’t dead after all! Just totally snookered! She felt so bad, since she had already plucked them, that she went and knit sweaters for them XD I laughed so hard when I heard that story. I felt like I just HAD to share it.
So very sweet, what a kind thing to do for these lovely ladies. We have a small flock of laying hens that we lock up at night. Foxes, hawks, dogs, can all hurt or even kill chickens. Have to take care of them and protect them.
They’re hens, so she-chickens, actually. The top red thingy is a comb, and the ones on their jaws a waddle.
People also knit and sew sweaters for rescued battery hens. If you’re interested, there’s info here: http://littlehenrescue.co.uk/jumpers.aspx
Uh, no, Megan…”waddle” is what I do to get from one room to the other. “Wattle” is the fold of skin hanging from the throat of a chicken.
I once saw 2 chickens gang up on a cat to steal his treat–one chicken harassed the kitty while the other one ran up and stole the food! Then, when the poor cat had slunk away in abject humiliation, the two chickens gulped down their ill-gotten gain.
thanks everyone for sharing my photo! haha!! pretty funny what happens on this website hey! will be visiting these chickens on the farm in a couple of days, see how the jumpers are getting on.
also a story from my grandparents, they said the chickens started walking backwards when they first had their jumpers put on… HILARIOUS!!
I feel so guilty!!! I just finished a chicken sandwich before seeing this! Yikes! They’re so cute!
My friend rehomes rescued battery hens and the ones she got in november were almost bald. she made them sets of little fleecey jackets – each chicken had her own fleece pattern – and they were cosy all through the snows. now most of their feathers have grown through and they are snuggly all by themselves. great idea for cold little chickens!
