My cats do that, too. One sleeps either under the covers or next to me until I fall asleep then he joins the other one at my feet, keeping both my toes and my butt warm. I don’t have nightmares when the cats are around.
aren’t they believed to remove bad spirits? maybe that’s why you don’t have nightmares. =^_^=

My ‘twin’ littermate cats would do that once n a while too.
My Honey likes to sleep under the covers by my feet too! Its lovely in the cold winter, its like having a purry furry hot water bottle in bed with me. But in the summer, sharing a bed with a hot cat stuck to my legs can be uncomfortable!!
It’s not too bad up here in Saskatchewan, Canada. Our prairie weather usually means a sizable drop in temperature (30C daytime/15C nighttime) so the heat is appreciated for a bit longer. But we have our moments, yeah. Now if I could only teach him that “dawn” doesn’t mean “up” in the summertime. 5am is a bit early to be getting up.
