It’s a pretty cool reflex that most baby mamals have: pick them up by the scruff of the neck and they go completely still.
Trying to picture how it’s even possible that powerful fangs could ever gently pick up a wee baby cub by the neck as the cub drifts off to slumberland… nature is amazing, innit?

you would think that they’re retractable or something! it really is amazing. and it also proves (once again) that picking up a puppy or kitten by its scruff IS NOT CRUEL because that’s what their mamas do!
“But I’m not sleepy!” doesn’t have quite the same effect when your mama’s teeth are as big as your paw, and she’s currently using them on you…
