Squee lovers, this litter of dalmatians is truly a miraculous one! This litter’s dalmatian mama may not have given birth to 101 pups, but she did give birth to 16! That’s a staggering number of puppies, and an even more staggering amount of squee!

Copy & paste this:

That’s a lot of pups!
Wow! I think that’s actually more than the mother gave birth to in 101 dalmatians (the rest were adopted). So good for you mama dog, you’ve out fairy-tailed [sic, teehee] disney.
Yes, that was 15 pups.
Also, the movie is based on a book.
Yup! Love the book. Tried to edit but accidentally re-posted (below)

This is the first time I’ve seen these little guys at this age
The first time I saw them was on a special report on a morning TV show: I nearly died from all the squee and the adorable puppy whimpers ^_^ The report video isn’t available outside the UK, but this video link reports on the same think:
Warning: Squee Overload Ahead
Hugz
Andie
The miracle is that people keep breeding animals while millions are being killed in shelters. Ridiculous.
yep, and consider this: they are keeping one and selling the rest-think about $500 per pup, times 15=$7500. The reason people make more becomes really clear .
I have ONE and she’s a handful. Lol. But I would love to be covered by spotted puppies!
They are cute when they’re little. I don’t like when my dog is ruining my house, and jumping up on my son, and accidentally clawing the heck out of me. Jack is more than an 80 lb handful. He’s a force of destruction.
PUPPY PILE!!!!
Sooo many potatoes! Can we then refer to this an a large order of small-fries?
PUPPY PILE!!!!
Yea!! The GOOD Kind.!!!!
Beautiful puppies but please, there is pet over population. Spay & Neuter and ADOPT!
Actually these puppies have already been featured on the TV here in the UK (they’re over six weeks old now), and the owner mentioned that they’re not a result of of IVF treatment or two litters put together ^^; Besides all the puppies except for one (which the owners of the puppies mother are keeping) are going to new homes
While puppies and dogs in the pound who might have been adopted instead are put to death.
Just because someone buys a puppy from a responsible breeder doesn’t mean they would never adopt a puppy or dog from the pound or a dog shelter. Anyway, you’re missing my point all together ^^;
The lady who owns the mother of the puppies did not set out to make her dog have big litter. She clearly states in the video I posted that they were only expecting four puppies, but they got a surprise and ended up with sixteen. In fact, she even mentions that the mother “Millie” came from a big litter of sixteen that was also unexpected. Just because a dog gives birth to a big litter of puppies, doesn’t always mean there’s a sinister reason behind it. It’s very rare that a dog naturally gives birth to that many, but it does happen.
I understand the concerns of there being so many puppies, but really we can’t go accusing people of things before we know the actual facts of the situation. The owner is clearly a lovely lady who cares about her dog and the welfare of the puppies and is willing to make sure they go to good homes that’ll care for and look after them. People will probably criticise me for this, but in my opinion it’s the irresponsible owners that mistreat their dogs and neglect them even when their dogs have puppies causing the poor things to end up in shelters until they can find homes who are more to blame. I watched a program today and it in a dog had given birth to a litter of puppies not so long ago and was being neglected by the person whose property they were living on and claimed that they didn’t belong to them (which I think is a whopping big lie) and one of the pups was found lying limp and almost lifeless in the grass: It was not a happy ending for the pup
So guys, instead of focusing your anger at people who actual care for their pets and the animals they’re responsible for, start doing something to help make sure that no dog or puppy or cat or kitten or animal ever gets neglected by anyone or ends up dying because no one took responsibility: You will be a lot more respected for it
Well said. Thank you.
Agreed!
Seriously. The cuteness of this is almost overridden by the thought of 16 more dogs.
It must be such fun at your house. Seriously.
Your comments are unwanted and unneeded. These pups are from a breeder, who, unlike most normal pet owners, actually know what they are doing and do not need to spay and neuter.
Let people have some fun experiencing the niceness of the picture before pushing in with your sour and obvious comments. Why don’t you go watch Animal Cops to see how a lot of people really treat their pets.
Because the fact that some animals suffer terrible abuse means there’s no need to encourage the vast majority of pet owners, who are not breeders, to spay and neuter their animals so that less animals end up unwanted.
Also, how many of the cases on Animal Cops – strays and abandonments, hoarders, well meaning no-kill shelters that can’t cope with so many animals – stem from unwanted litters?
Lovely picture, congratulations to the proud mum and I’m sure these babies will end up in good homes.
Dalmatians make terrible family pets. We have one. If you’re thinking of adding a dalmatian to your family, please do your research.
Omgosh, I want to squish them. I have a 14 year old female dalmatian, and a 2.5 year old male. Spots are the best
So much pink – I thought at first they were piglets!
good grief!! poor mom!
Cuddle puddle of sweet puppies!
You should see the videos of them at six weeks old
Seriously, you will melt
They were on the TV one time were I live and one them did the cutest thing ever: The mother was sitting on some bails of hay watching over them and this puppy sat up straight with its little fronts placed firmly on the ground and its little head held high looking up at its mother as if to say “Look Mum! I’m a big goggie just like you!” ^_^
Hoorah for induced overpopulation, resulting in the euthanasia of even more perfectly good dogs!
And boo for people who have to turn everything negative!
And boo for people who can’t face reality.
May I ask why on earth you would visit a website dedicated entirely to posting pictures of baby animals if the very sight of baby animals inspires such anger and self-righteousness? Seriously, people. If you don’t like seeing baby animals, this isn’t the website for you.
Baby animals are fine. I love seeing baby animals. I do not love seeing people hurt animals out of greed and stupidity, like puppy breeders.
Ok. Where do you think puppies are going to come from if there are no puppy breeders? Do you think they grow on puppy trees? Obviously if it was a picture of a puppy farm or was showing obvious abuse then that’s a different matter. But it is a picture of puppies. Which don’t appear out of thin air. I think you need a lesson in basic biology, frankly.
Hurrrr… Maybe we could take care of all the litters that come from unmonitored strays first instead of putting them all down so we can keep the pretty little intentional inbreds?
I think you need a lesson in basic logic, frankly.
Actually I think you need to pay more attention, sorry ^^; The lady who owns the mother of the pups clearly stated that they didn’t set out to have a big litter and that they were expecting only four puppies and that it was a surprise that they ended up with sixteen
It’s very rare for dogs to naturally end up pregnant with such big litters, but it happens. I would be more worried if the mother and pups had been abandoned and left to fend for themselves until the point of starving, but it’s very clear that they haven’t been and that they are very much cared for
Honestly guys, let’s just enjoy this moment of cuteness and the birth of life.
I agree, there are way too many unwanted animals in the world but you cannot place all of the blame on the breeders. It is up to pet owners to do their job as owners and either keep their pets inside or to get them spayed or neutered as soon as they can when they get these pets. If people were more responsible, there wouldn’t be this problem and there would be less placing blame on people who are just trying to make a living.
Owning a pet is like having a child. One must take responsibility. If you cannot do that, then I wouldn’t recommend getting a pet or having a child.
Er… Breeders ARE pet owners who fail to have their animal spayed or neutered.
I don’t mean to be a smart alec but breeders DON’T want the pets they have to be spayed or neutered. Or else they can’t breed… ^^;
Breeders are running a business. Many people want a pedigree dog, or don’t want one from a shelter that has an uncertain past, so they demand puppies that have been specially bred. i fthey don’t get it from a breeder they’ll get it from a pet shop.
Focus on putting the puppy mills out of business first, then, maybe, I’ll listen to your proposal to do the same to breeders.
The important thing is to get the message across to pet owners to spay and neuter their animals to avoid unwanted litters which may be abandoned or given to a shelter. Breeders won’t breed puppies they can’t find homes for.
Maybe I’ll invest in breeding human babies. Should be pretty lucrative, and as long as it’s a business, that will excuse any immoral behavior, right?
PS: Pet shops buy from breeders and puppy mills, which are large-scale breeders.
Oh, and as for breeders not breeding pups they can’t get rid of, just the other day I was talking to a lady who took a teddy pup from her sister because she had bred a litter and no one wanted to buy them. Eight pups with no homes. WAY TO GO.
The exception not the rule. Sensible producers of anything will only produce as much as they can sell.
Congrats on completely missing my point, by the way.
To reiterate in idiot-proof words:
First put the puppy mills out of business. Put the breeders out of business while they are still open and far more people will buy from them, they will breed even more pups, and you create far more suffering.
btw: in general parlance, the word ‘breeder’ excludes puppy mills. This was the usage I intended.
I should also have said ‘resonsible breeders’ – there are of course irresponsible breeders who don’t know or don’t care about the health and well-being of their dogs and puppies. Consider my remarks on puppy mills to apply to them also.
Funny you should say that.
In my country where the gvt. provides welfare money, many women are having babies to collect on the gvt. grant.
The things people do for easy money, *shakes head*
People with all the negative comments about overpopulation… I understand where you’re coming from, but this is not the place for it. This is a page to appreciate cute animals. There are other websites you can go to and be sad. It would be like if someone showed me a picture of their new baby and I said “You know, this world is getting overpopulated and children are starving to death in third-world countries…”
Amanda, I respectfully disagree with you. This is a place where a lot of young people come and see cute things and want them. The captions often say things like “I WANT ONE”. The number of animals being killed in shelters is out of control, and it’s a problem that could be fixed if people were just responsible and quit breeding.
This is just the place where people need to see that all puppies don’t get good homes. Not even all “purebreds”, which are mostly man-made anyway, branded to make people want them.
I get what you’re saying, but also know that not everyone who says “I want one” goes out and gets one. I’ve said that about many animals as a cute, kiddy way of referring to how cute they are.
I know you are concerned about overpopulation. I just spend a lot of time on the internet, and it feels like no matter what is going on, someone will make it negative. A little kid dances to Thriller, someone says Michael Jackson was a pervert. Someone famous donates $1 million to charity, people ask why it wasn’t more. It just really annoys me. And I’m sorry if I took that out on you and your legitimate concern. I’m sure you know how it is when something just gets to you after a while.
Might I just say the way you ladies handled yourselves is commendable. Too often have I read comments where people are trying to ram their opinions down another’s throat.
You both have very strong opinions and have voiced it in a way that isn’t off-putting to the rest of us, informative and is respectful of each other. If this was the care2 site I’d send you ladies a green star!
Guys, all of you make very good points, but you have to remember that this is Daily Squee and that it’s run by people who adore and care about animals for other people who also adore and care about animals: They would never have reposted this photo here if the pups in it were being mistreated
I have read all your comments and whilst I agree with some I think some are utter rubbish.
I now own one of the above puppies, the breeder was very through when deciding if I was a suitable owner!! she turned away quite a few people who telephoned.
The puppies can’t be used for stud/breeding without the agreement of the breeders. They can not be removed from the country without agreement from the breeders, I had to sign a legally binding contract with them. All of which I was more than happy to do as he is comming to us as a family member NOT a breeding machine. I would also like to point out dalmations make great family dogs I have owned two for the last twelve years (unfortunatly I lost one to a stroke hence the pup).
I could have not found better breeders and more responisible one’s if i had searched a month of Sundays. Not all people who breed do it for the wrong reasons, I understand familys have been found for all of the pups.
