Squee lovers, any idea what this darling little whatsit might be? I always have such a tough time identifying animals when they’re as teeny-tiny as this one is… but I know you’re all quite great at it, so please please please help me out!

Looks like a baby squirrel to me. I’ve seen a lot of them this year.
I believe it is a newborn squirrel. I may be wrong though.
That’s a baby squirrel. I have one just a little younger than that one right now.
I think it looks like a newborn squirrel. Or chipmunk, maybe?
Squirrel!
Squirrel
Looks like a baby squirrel to me. Its so tiny…aww
It’s an infant squirrel, 8 or 9 days old I think. He’s so sweet and soft looking!
I search at least an hour to find out : it’s a newborn squirrel.
He must be less than a week old, he hasn’t got his fur yet.
But it’s one of the cuttest things I’ve ever seen !
Eh, maybe 6 or 7 days…
Looks like a squirrel baby! Probably a grey.
That would be an itty bitty squirrel.
baby otter?
Squirrel Baby! I raised and released one named Monkey lol
that is a baby squirrel! I just had 4 of them. SO CUTE!!!
Squirrel!
It’s too big to be a baby squirrel or chipmunk.
I’m pretty certain it’s a baby otter.
I take it back…it doesn’t have webbed feet.
Hmmmm.
Maybe the person holding it has small hands? How big should a squirrel be?
definitely a baby squirrel! sooooo squee!
With the muzzle and the thick tail, I’m going to disagree with everyone and say it’s a newborn otter…
i kind of agree.
I’ve seen baby squirrels by the bucketload (figuratively speaking) at a wildlife rescue center and that’s a baby squirrel.
It’s definitely a squirrel. Otters have 5 fingers, this only has 4. Also, looks ta the shape of the eyes and you can see the squirrel features developing.
*look at
Agreed. Its a squee-rl
Sarah, did you know that in Africa (at least in Uganda) they call squirrels squeels?
Isn’t that so cute??
Looks like a kangaroo joey to me.
looks like a baby rat or squirrel to me
It’s a babeh gray squirrel. x3 I work at an animal shelter and we see a lot of them come in. Many a squirrel babeh have been curled up in my scrub pockets, until a wildlife rehabber can come pick them up and care for them (they often have to be tube fed, since some won’t accept a bottle). If you upset them and get them to chirp, they sound like a car alarm going off. So much noise for such a tiny squee. ^_^
that’s a rare arctic derper in its native habit… duh..
Looks like a little baby hippo
I agree, I thought it looked like a baby hippo too!
Face is wrong for a squirrel. I think it’s a baby river otter.
baby otter
It reminds me a whole lot of how my baby rats looked when they were newborns. At least we can be sure that it’s some kind of newborn rodent
That is most definitely a baby gerbil. I raised them and that looks just like them. That one looks to be about 5 days old right before they start getting their big kid fur and trying to wander around.
This is my photo — I took it while volunteering at Coast & Canyon Wildlife Rehabilitation in Malibu, California. It is an orphaned baby fox squirrel (tree squirrel) moments after he arrived at the rehab facility. He has since grown up into a healthy, happy squirrel and has successfully been released back into the wild.
You can see more sweet babies like this one on Coast & Canyon’s live cams – details are on their website.
It’s a baby squirrel.
Its a baby squirrel
Looking at the nose, I’m seeing wombat…
AGH! Idiot! So busy squeeing at the nose that I failed to notice the epic tail. NOT A WOMBAT.
Ha, ha. Tail fail
)
Definitely a baby squirrel, my guess is about a week old. I had a nest of them on my balcony this summer. It’s amazing how much they change in appearance in only a month………
Definitely a cutie at any age!
Have to agree….baby squirrel…
Could it be a baby kangaroo? his little back legs look a little wrong to me to be a squirrel….but I could be wrong.
He’s a cute little critter, though!
You can tell it is a baby squirrel because it has black nails. Squirrels are pretty much the only ones that will have black nails when they’re babies.
It’s a baby squirrel. My dad and I have raised squirrels and thats exactly what they look like
