kbigley says: “He’s primarily an outside dog, so when I come out and sit on the deck with him, he lays his head on my lap and smiles at me. He is ALWAYS this happy to see me. Can’t beat the love of your dog.”
Awwww… corgi happiness does the heart so much good! I’m so jelliez of your perpetually happy-to-see-you puppy, kbigley!

Corig haz a happy!! L♥VE the smile!!
What a terrible shame this beautiful dog is not loved enough to allow him (and his ‘brother’ in the background) to live in the house with the rest of the family. When one adopts a companion animal, which corgis definitely are, it should be part of the family, not be doomed to live outside without the comfort of its companion, i.e. ‘owner’.
Oh for crying out loud… just because an animal is kept outside doesn’t mean it’s not loved. As long as they feed him and come out to play with him, what’s the big deal? Dogs naturally lived outside before being domesticated anyway.
I agree. Not every dog can be solely an inside dog and more importantly, not every dog WANTS to. IMHO, a dog entirely isolately to staying indoors isn’t loved.
*isolated
While I agree it seems like these adorable pups are well cared for and they are “primarily” outdoors because they have the option, you’re neglecting one very important word in your post. Dogs naturally lived outside before being domesticated. Many breeds now wouldn’t be able to handle outside life, no matter what their original use. And also, loved and well cared for are not synonymous, unfortunately.
Shame on you for even thinking I do not love them, you do not know me, and to judge my love of my animals based on a photo is foolish. Have you nothing better to do with your time than to come on internet sites and insinuate animal neglect and abuse?
You seem to be part of a growing number of people that seem to think that all dogs should be in the house at all times, sleep on the bed, jump up on the couches, etc. While its wonderful to have your animals inside, its not completely realistic.
They were at one point inside dogs. Corgis are heavy heavy shedders, and with two of them in the house, everything was covered in hair, everything smelled like dog. It was too the point that I wouldn’t even pick them up and my sweater would be covered in hair. At some point you need to be able to compromise and realize that they are dogs, who have always enjoyed their time outside (they run around and play all day) and inside, but I need to be able to put on clothing and not be covered in dog hair, and i need to be able to bring people over and hot have my house smell like a dog.
Being that I go to school and work 2 jobs, and my parents both work, we have time to feed them and play with them, but not the time to spend on heavy duty cleaning and vacuuming.
If you were talking about a chihuaua, a pug, malteese- then maybe I would see your point about not being able to handle outside life.
What is there to “handle?” There is food, water, a large area to run in?
I’ve grown up in the country, where EVERY dog was an outside dog. Those dogs were all loved, all cared for even without being inside all day.
I actually feel kinda guilty that dogs are kept IN all the time. Our dog can’t go outside because we live in the city and I can tell you this, his favorite time is to be OUTSIDE! To those who are complainin’ about these poochies bein’ outside all the time, you can just HUSH! These pups have a pen to run in and a family that loves them. What more could they want? It’s far better than bein’ stuck in a small building where they can’t run and play about and have to always mind the rules of the house! Dogs aren’t like us, they LOVE the outdoors! From the beginning they’ve LOVED the outdoors! It’s only from our intervention that a few don’t, but the majority LOVE going outside! Where do you think the iconic dog-begging-for-a-walk image keeps showing up every where? It’s because they ENJOY the outdoors. These two pooches are probably in puppy BLISS. I wish my dog could have a nice open yard and be able to run around!
Did you notice the word ‘primarily’ there? I understood that as ‘spends most of his time outside’ – most likely because he enjoys it.
Judy, some dogs just love being outside, no matter the breed. i had a maltese that refused to stay inside and i think if i confined my old lab indoors with me, he would have not lived to 15.
even my parents new dog mopes and whines until he is let out (he’s 4 months old) and then he doesn’t want to come in.
Remember, there’s sunshine and blue sky and friends (or mortal enemies if you’re a cat) to be made outside!
@ Judy, what the HECK are you talking about?? Our dogs have the run of the house AND the yard and where do you think they spend most of their day?? OUTSIDE like the majority of dogs prefer, DUH!!! Have you nothing better to worry about?? Sheesh!
It depends on what OP means by “primarily”. Perhaps these dogs, like yours, are given the choice of in or out, and mostly choose out. Then again, perhaps they’re just not allowed in the house most of the time, and if that’s the case then Judy has a point.
In reality…they have the alternative to be INSIDE an animal shelter…
Things that make you go, “Hmm…”
Amen!
PS, your corgis are PRECIOUS!!
I wonder what “primarily outdoor” means too. Do they sleep outside? Poor babies. But they look well-cared for. I hope they have shelter, security, treats, toys, food, fresh water and most of all that they’re not starved for love.
Oh, and “Squee!”
My dogs prefer to be outside, when they stayed inside, they always wanted to be outside. They have a yard to run and play in, they get huge dinners. If it the weather gets poor, we bring them in where its nice and warm.
They also have areas where they can lay in the shade, and a pen that is out of the heat/cold so that if they want to escape the weather they can.
I am insulted that anyone would think I do anything less than love them.
Keep in mind that corgis are a breed known to be cattle dogs, and many cattle dogs are outside dogs- shepherds, etc, all are outside dogs. They are smaller dogs, true, but, they certainly aren’t a toy dog.
You’re doing a great job, Kelly!
I have to keep our dog from seeing this, or else he’ll be jealous and demand a nice outdoors yard too, which we don’t have. ADORABLE dog by the way!
corgis were bred as cattle dogs???
good grief! i’ve always thought of them as being in the same league as maltese etc.
Yep! My boy will nip at my heels and try and heard me, he and his dad that is in the background also like to jump up and bite us in the butt as we walk by.
pure love. Love IT!
My dogs would rather be outside all day, I leave the doors open all day long and guess what, they’d rather be OUTSIDE laying on the porch then in the house on the couch. Now my dogs don’t live outside, they do come in at night, but for most of the day they want to be outside in the sunshine!
