Though I’ve long been a huge Joanna Newsom fan, I’d never bothered to look up one of the titular characters from her song “Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie…” until now, I mean. Because this cowry/cowrie (both are acceptable) is both a lovely whatsit and just a lovely thing in general. Such vibrant colors, oh my!

They’re all quite delicious, but I have to say, right now I’m definitely in more of a cockle mood than anything. Which is probably for the best, since I’ve got one sandwiched in my beak right now. Heaven forbid that it should be a cowrie instead; cowrie actually sounds quite dreadful right now!
What can I say? I’m a picky eater sometimes, and when it comes to seafood, I really have to be in the right mindset to fully enjoy certain dishes.
